Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Research and Innovation Studies (IJRIS) expects all submitted manuscripts to be original and to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work does not contain plagiarism, including unattributed use of another person’s words, ideas, data, images, or other material. Plagiarism may also include presenting previously published work as new, excessive or inappropriate copying, and reusing one’s own published material without proper citation or disclosure (self-plagiarism).

All sources must be acknowledged clearly and consistently. Direct quotations should be placed in quotation marks or otherwise clearly identified, with an appropriate citation and, where required, a page number. Paraphrased ideas and findings must also be cited, even when expressed in the author’s own words. Authors should confirm that they have permission to reproduce copyrighted material when permission is required and provide full attribution.

IJRIS may screen submissions using plagiarism-detection tools and may assess any identified overlap in context. A similarity score alone does not establish plagiarism: quoted material, references, standard terminology, and properly cited passages may contribute to the score. However, a low score does not guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism. Authors should review the report carefully and ensure that all borrowed material is appropriately attributed before submission.

If plagiarism or another form of publication misconduct is suspected, the journal may investigate the matter and contact the authors for an explanation. Depending on the seriousness and circumstances, possible actions may include requesting revisions, rejecting the manuscript, retracting a published article, notifying the authors’ institutions or relevant organizations, and restricting future submissions. The journal may also take action when misconduct is identified after publication.

Authors must submit work that is not under consideration by another journal and must disclose any substantial overlap with their own previously published work, including related articles, conference papers, theses, or preprints. All listed authors share responsibility for the integrity of the manuscript and should review it before submission.

By submitting a manuscript to IJRIS, authors confirm that the work is original, all sources and contributions are properly acknowledged, and any necessary permissions have been obtained. Upholding this policy protects the rights of original creators, supports trustworthy scholarship, and maintains the credibility of the journal and the research it publishes.
